Pizza Party Dip
It's party season! Whether you're having a Halloween party, Thanksgiving or holiday party, dips are the thing to serve! I think it’s safe to say most people are big pizza fans. Rather than having an actual pizza that people would most likely fill up on, I thought I’d make a dip that mimics pizza. You’ll find all the usual pizza suspects in this dip except for one special touch, buttery crackers soaked in melted butter and Italian herbs!!
This technique was somewhat adopted by the way a tiramisu or icebox cake is made because of the layers and “soaked” item such as the crackers in this dish. Once it’s baked, the buttery-herb soaked crackers will be soft and become one with the rest of the dip! To eat with the dip, you can use crackers, Melba toast, garlic bread, bread sticks to dip or anything you want!
Ingredients:
-3 sleeves buttery crackers (I like Ritz)
-1 stick salted butter
-1 jar of your favorite pizza sauce (or make your own)
-1 package shredded mozzarella
-1 package pepperoni
-1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
-1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Tools:
-Square baking dish
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES
Step#1
Spoon a thin layer of pizza sauce on bottom of baking dish.
Step#2
Melt butter in microwave, then add Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Stir. Dip each cracker in the melted butter mixture for just a few seconds and begin lining them up along the baking dish on top of the pizza sauce.
Step#3
Spoon on more sauce followed by shredded mozzarella.
Step#4
Add your pepperoni in rows and continue to repeat the process two more times.
Step#5
Once you have all your layers, bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool a bit before serving.
