Marinara Mummies

These are the friendliest (and tastiest) mummies you ever did see! Being Italian, I love pizza, pasta and everything in between. These yummy little mummies are a fun take on pizza bites for a party or an after school snack!

Ingredients:

- String cheese mozzarella

- Store bought refrigerated pizza dough

- Your favorite marinara sauce (pizza or pasta sauce)

- Green Manzanilla olives

- Parmesan cheese

Step#1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees (HAVE AN ADULT HELP.)

Start by unwrapping your string cheese.

Step #2

Pour the marinara sauce into a bowl and dip the mozzarella stick into the sauce.

Step #3

Roll out pizza dough (do not take out of refrigerator until you are ready to use it or it will get too mushy to handle.) Cut a long strip of dough.

Step #4

Wrap that strip of dough around your saucy mozzarella around and around, up and down for a "mummy" effect. HAVE AN ADULT help you cut thin slices of the olives to look like eyes and place them on top of the dough where eyes would be. Sprinkle with parmesan.

Step #5

Bake your yummy mummies for 20 minutes and let cool a little before serving as the cheese inside will be very hot! I hope your tummies enjoy these mummies!

FUN FACT! Mozzarella cheese originated in Italy and was always made by the milk of water buffalos. It is now also made with cow's milk and very popular in countries outside of Italy, like right here in the U.S.!
